She was on the euth list.
Now she's snoring on my couch.
Last night, I was scrolling Facebook way too late.
I saw her right away—an old, blind shih tzu with scruffy hair, tail tucked, and a big red "URGENT" splashed over her photo.
My heart just sank.
My house already looks wild.
Laundry piles everywhere.
Legos poking out from under the couch.
Still, I got in my car and drove to the shelter.
Who could say no to that little gray face?
At the front desk, the lady said, "Just so you know, she's blind. Not easy." I shrugged. "Honestly, same."
Five minutes later, I was sitting on their floor with tears in my eyes.
A shaky, tiny furball tried to climb into my lap.
Now, she's home.
She's run her nose into every chair (and the coffee table).
She doesn't care.
Kids keep sneaking her scraps of dinner.
My youngest built her a tent out of blankets.
Her eyes don't work.
But her tail sure wiggles.
I get it—
Sometimes the mess, or the day, feels like too much.
Maybe it's hard to believe in new beginnings.
But even a blind, stubborn shih tzu can get a second chance.
So can you.
